ABOUT Y4C

Yoga4Cancer is a research-based, specialized yoga practice that addresses the specific emotional and physical needs caused by cancer and its treatments. Techniques practiced include breathwork, meditation, movement, balance techniques, and restful poses, all guided by a Y4C certified instructor who is aware of the unique needs of cancer patients and survivors.

With a consistent practice you will experience the benefits of the five principles of Y4C:

  • BREATH – Learn to use the breath to heal.
  • BODY MOVEMENT – Move your physical body for wellness.
  • BODY-MIND WISDOM – Learn to observe and listen to and your body.
  • CONNECTING WISDOM – Connect with survivors who understand what it’s like.
  • SELF-COMPASSION – Explore ways to find contentment and hope.

ABOUT Y4C CLASSES

Classes are 90 minutes in a safe, nurturing environment to empower you, honor you, and create a space that is your sanctuary.  You will be guided to tune into your breath and move through yoga poses modified to meet you where you are, regardless of physical strength or flexibility. Chairs and props will be provided. Classes are designed to help you maintain a strong immune system, build muscle, improve bone density, create self-confidence, calm stress and anxiety, improve sleep, provide a supportive community and cultivate hope, well-being and ease. Caregivers are welcome. Open to all.  No prior yoga experience needed.

Pre-registration is required, as Rhonda will contact you prior to your first class to gain an understanding of where you are in your individual recovery. Please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and dress in comfy clothes.

About Rhonda Wise, RN, MSN, OCN, RYT200

“Through my personal yoga practice I have found strength, resilience, clarity and insight into my true self.  It is my greatest hope to share this gift.”

Since 2010 Rhonda has served as a certified facilitator of support groups and workshops in the community; teaching cancer survivors how to move forward and truly live their best life after a cancer diagnosis. She holds her Master’s of Science degree in Nursing, and her nursing focus has been oncology since 2005. She is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance and certified Yoga4Cancer instructor. Rhonda is passionate about continuing to grow, learn, and empower herself and others to live fully, consciously, and without judgement. She has studied with Carole Westerman, Suzanne DeJong, Maria Garre, and Tari Prinster to deepen her understanding of yoga and it’s healing nature. Her goal is for students to leave her class with a sense of personal empowerment by creating a safe and nurturing space for exploration, openness, kindness, and love. Rhonda’s style of teaching is to meet you wherever you are on any given day. Her belief in stillness to enable you to listen to your body and honor its wisdom is an important part of her philosophy. She believes there is beauty, strength, and purpose in every body and welcomes all students.

The studio atmosphere is soothing and free of distraction. The instruction is incredible! The teachers are supportive yet challenging and technical in the best possible way. Practice here if you’re serious about making a commitment to yourself.
